Job roles within the creative media industry:

The job that I want to pursue within the creative media industry is a 3D modelling. For this job role you need skills.

skills you need:
The main skill that you will need when trying to become a 3D modeller is the knowledge of how to use multiple 3D modelling software that the industry uses. Also the ability to work well with others and within a team, this goes from most of the jobs that are in the creative media industry. As a modeler you be working with concept artist to create characters , objects and environment for you game. Another important skill is to create and add textures and materials to you models.
i believe i have the 3D modelling skills, also the skills to work within a team because I have done lots of modelling on my course. The course has also taught me to work in teams and I've build up a wide range of skills.
different types of employment within the industry:
The main types of employment within the industry are when your working for a company. And the other one is when your self employed and you work for your self.

working for a company:
This is the safest one and its a good way to improve on your knowledge and skills within the industry. This is because you have colleagues with tones of experience and can pass it down to you. Also your more financially secure within a company because you get a salary. The problems with working for a company is one you get less freedom to design what you want to and also you might not like some of the people that you work with.

working for your self:
Working for your self means that you can become a contractor and set your own rates and companies will hire you to make 3D models. you can also create your own independent business, this allows you tons of freedom to create what ever your want. The problem with doing this is that your not as financially secure like if you was working for a company. It also might be hard to get a following because Big company normally get all the light ,But there are websites like Behance that allow people to show off there projects and get some views.
jobs for a 3D modeler:

Activision environment artist:

This job is for a big company called  Activision and your roles within the company is to be apart of there art team and create game environment for the games. You work with the art director to makes sure that you create the image that they want. In this job you also work with the Level designer and concept artist and you have to be able to work to a deadline.

One of the Problems that i found  when looking at this job if i was going to apply is that you need to have 3 years experience and also that you need to be able to use the software Maya or 3Ds Max. I have not used 3Ds Max and I've only used Maya a couple. the software that I normal use is cinema 4D but i think that these skills can transfer across.

3D Artist London Job:

This job is more of a contract work because this company in London is looking for a experience 3D artist in London to be able to create 3D models for the game that they are developing. It was the same sort of charactertics as the last job with that your going to be working in a team and have to follow a pipeline with the development process when creating the game.

This one is better for me to apply for because the not looking for the 3 Years experience like the other job is. Also the other job is based in america which if i got the job i would have to move to which is a problem in it self, but this job is based in London and i can get to London with no troupe on the train.

How 3D modelling has changed:
Its clear by looking older Games and films that 3D modeling has improved over the years. This is because The computer over the years have gotten more powerful and can hold more data for these big maps and detail that people are now putting into games. also in software the 2 main ones 3ds max and Maya are both owned by the same company so there limited competition and they can foucus on improving both them and making the best software they can.
